TACOSODE is an abbreviation for Tanzania Council for Social Development formerly known as National Council for Social Welfare Services. Its head quarter is in Dar es Salaam.
Registered in February 1965 as voluntary coordinating body for NGOs in the country, later it changed its focus from a welfare orientation to social development; with the new name adopted in 1987. TACOSODE was registered under the Societies Ordinance CAP 337 of 1954 with Registration No. SO. 4948 dated 30th October 1987. Following the enactment of the New NGO Act No. 24 of 2002, TACOSODE received Certificate of Compliance No. 1491 dated 3rd June 2005 from the Registrar of NGOs in the Ministry of Community Development Gender and Children Affairs.

TACOSODE observes the following organization structure;
This is the platform that brings together all TACOSODE members every two years, and makes strategic policy decision for the organization. The GA plays a very critical roles including elections of Board of Directors and adopting constitutional amendments.
This is a governance structure that has overall responsibility of providing strategic direction and oversight of TACOSODE on behalf of member organizations. The member is drawn from across the membership through an election during the Annual General Assembly. Among other governance roles, the board has overall responsibilities of soliciting funds for the organization, ensuring the organization growth, management and to mitigate associated risks.
The organization comprises of full-time staffs, part time staffs as well as Volunteers who makes the Secretariat team. The secretariat is charged with the responsibility of resource mobilization for different projects and activities, coordinating members’ activities, as well as establishing strategic partnerships with Local and International stakeholders.
